VOLUNTEER TODAY AT THE OUTDOOR LEARNING PARK IN WATTS
Empathy is not something that exists in a bubble. At Children Mending Hearts, we know you have to practice empathy in 360°. This means that everything must be touched by empathy. And we have been touched by YOUR empathy. We couldn’t succeed if it weren’t for our incredible volunteers.
We are excited to announce our newest in-person volunteering option, where you can work directly with children to make a real difference on their education during such a tumultuous time.
What is CMH’s Outdoor Learning Park?
Located in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts, the Outdoor Learning Park is a safe and structured space where local elementary-aged kids can come and do what they need to for distanced learning while following CDC safety recommendations. It includes socially distanced work stations, individual supplies, wifi-enabled technology, a mobile library and lounge area to increase literacy, and more.
What Can You Expect at the Outdoor Learning Park?
An incredible time with some truly fantastic children and memories that will last a lifetime!
But really, when you join us at the Learning Park, there are many tasks that you could end up doing over the course of the morning. You might be helping a kid connect to their Zoom class one minute, and reading a picture book the next. The students might ask for your help with any of the day-to-day questions that come up during online learning.
The group size stays small to keep everyone safe. For this reason, we’re only accepting four volunteers each day. You can schedule your volunteering days below!
