A couple months ago an CMH Global Arts program artist competition was taking place at one of our partner schools, Kipp Academy of Innovation. Sababa Water, a bottling company with a mission to fight the war against childhood hunger in the United States, was offering an incredible opportunity to the children in our programming at Kipp - design a piece of artwork about empathy, and it could be chosen to be featured on thousands of Sababa water bottles!
We were so thrilled to see the pictures sent to us by Kipp as the competition went on. At Children Mending Hearts, we teach empathy, and our students take in a lot of information in the course of our programming. We believe one of the biggest reasons the lessons we teach have such an impact on the youth we serve is because we pair it with creative application. In other words, the students are able to exercise their creativity in expressing and thinking about the lessons they’re learning. That’s why this competition was a perfect way for us to collaborate with Sababa! We think you’ll agree that the winning design is truly spectacular:
Kodi, the winning artist, was all smiles when he found out his piece was chosen!
Sales of the water bottles with custom labels designed by Kodi will not only benefit CMH programming, but also go toward Sababa’s goal of feeding hungry children across the country. The hebrew word sababa has a lot of meanings, but two of them are “great” and “wonderful.” That’s how we’re feeling right about now.
